Hot Spring

Hot Spring

Onsen

The Goto Islands’ sole naturally gushing, high-temperature artesian spring.
Discovered in 1856 (Ansei 3) in Arakawa, on the island’s west coast, this precious water
has been cherished by local fishermen and passed down through generations as an island treasure.
Now, this spring water is channeled into an open-air bath offering panoramic views of the horizon, quietly beginning a new chapter.
Immerse yourself in a hot spring experience unique to Goto, where the sea, the spring, and the island’s tranquil rhythm gently converge.

Cycle of Blessings

The Blessing of Circulating Waters

On the western shore of Goto, a single hot spring source “Arakawa Onsen” quietly continues to flow.
We draw this water and deliver it to our guest rooms. The gently steaming waters tenderly embrace visitors, eventually returning them to nature’s eternal cycle.
This is the hot spring of GOTO RETREAT ray, quietly connecting the blessings nurtured by the island and passing them on to the future.

Springs of Living Memory

Waters that warm the island’s memories

Since 1856 (Ansei 3), when the spring’s emergence was first recorded in the Arakawa area of Goto, these waters have quietly watched over the island’s way of life.
During the prosperous fishing era, many boats lined the harbor, and fishermen would warm their chilled bodies by the calm seaside.
The waters that have continued to heal those who live alongside the sea still flow today as Goto’s only high-temperature natural flowing hot spring.

Where Sea Meets Steam

Where the sea and hot spring meet

Beyond the steam filling the guest rooms, the horizon gently radiates light.
Mornings are embraced by light born from the sea, evenings offer views of the ocean dissolving into crimson, and nights are cradled by twinkling stars and the sound of waves.
Immerse yourself in the waters whenever you wish, for as long as you desire.
This is a uniquely Goto moment where sea and hot spring become one.
