DAY 1

Arrive at Fukue Island around noon

(10 minutes by car →) Once you arrive on the island, first complete the procedures at the car rental office.

1:00 PM: Nakamoto Seimen’s Goto Udon

(10 minutes by car →) After completing the rental car procedures, experience making hand-stretched udon and have lunch at Nakamoto Seimen. Goto udon is a type of hand-stretched udon and is counted as one of Japan’s three major udon varieties.

2:30 PM Dozaki Church

(10 minutes by car→) In Okuura Town along the way, Kawazu cherry blossoms are in full bloom for about a month from early February, tinting the area in shades of pink.Dozaki Church is a brick-built church constructed during the Meiji era, and its interior has been converted into a museum.

15:30 Onidake

(25 minutes by car →) Mt. Onidake, a round-shaped symbol of Fukue Island. A 5-minute walk up the stairs from the parking lot will take you to an observation deck with a panoramic view of Fukue City and the Goto Sea. From there, it is about a 20-minute climb to the summit.

4:00 PM Goto Camellia Garden

(3 minutes by car →) The Goto Islands are also known as the Islands of Camellias. The Camellia Garden has approximately 2,800 camellias of about 260 varieties, including Yabu camellias. The best time to see them is from January to March. Be sure to look for the “Tamanoura Camellia,” which has unique red petals with white edges.

16:30 Arrive at hotel and check in

(5 minutes by car →) Check in to GOTO RETREAT ray. As you step into the hotel, you will be greeted by the ocean view scenery unique to ray.

17:30 Dinner at the hotel

Enjoy Japanese kaiseki cuisine at the in-house “ray dining” restaurant, where you can savor the flavors of Gotō. In Goto, where fish are abundant and fresh both in summer and winter, you can enjoy a variety of seasonal seafood throughout the four seasons. Another feature of the remote islands is that all agricultural products are “locally produced” because they are not connected to land.

Stargazing Tour

Enjoy Goto’s nights with a guided tour while gazing at the starry sky. Because it is a remote island with few lights, you can see a spectacular starry sky.

~11:00 PM Enjoy a quiet evening at the ray bar

After dinner, take a break and spend the evening at the craft cocktail bar where you can feel the story of Gotō. A non-alcoholic menu is also available. The authentic setting, the essence of Yukio Hashimoto, is also a highlight. There is also a small meditation room behind the bar.

DAY 2

08:00 Breakfast

Wake up refreshed and enjoy breakfast at “ray dining.” Savor freshly cooked white rice and miso soup made with local barley miso. Our “Japanese-style set meal” features fish and vegetables that are gentle on the body. Enjoy a different view from dinner time.

9:30 Departure from hotel

After breakfast, we departed in the rental car we rented yesterday.
*We also have a sightseeing MAP of Fukue Island available.

10:00 AM Mizunoura Church

(30 minutes by car →) A church standing on a small hill with white and light blue as its base colors. The bat ceiling, which is a feature of the Gothic style and looks like a bat umbrella, and the gorgeous stained glass are also highlights.

11:00 AM Orange Road

(20 minutes by car →) A path that follows the coast of Miraku. Beyond the lawn, there is a lava coast and a blue sea. Why not take a drive while feeling the sea breeze?

11:30 – Gyoran Kannon Observatory, Takahama Beach

(15-minute drive) – A pristine white sandy beach and crystal-clear turquoise waters. Its seascape is sometimes referred to as “Japan’s most beautiful sea.” The gradation of beautiful blues seen from the spectacular observation point overlooking the two beaches, Takahama and Tomboku, is breathtaking.

1:00 PM Lunch in the Arakawa area

(10 minutes by car →)
・Shokudo Sansan: There are many set meals where you can enjoy fresh fish from the waters near Goto. It is also attractive that you can eat nodoguro at a reasonable price.
・Togarashi: A popular restaurant with locals with a wide variety of menu items. You can enjoy authentic Chinese food that makes use of spices and chili oil.

*When strolling around Arakawa, please use the free parking lot right next to the foot bath.

Arakawa Onsen Foot Bath

A place where your mind and body can relax. It has been renovated into a foot bath that also serves as a bus stop and waiting room. Perfect for resting your feet while driving.

2:30 PM Iminoura Church and Lourdes

(25 minutes by car →) A space for quiet prayer and healing spreads out. It is said that there is the first Lourdes in Japan, and drinking this sacred water cures diseases, making it a sacred place for believers all over Japan.

3:30 PM Osezaki Lighthouse

(25 minutes by car →) From the observation deck, you can see the magnificent scenery created by the steep cliffs carved by strong winds and waves. It is about an hour’s walk to the lighthouse.

6:00 PM Return to the hotel

(55 minutes by car →) You can relax in the lobby until dinner, or take a dip in the ocean view open-air bath in your room. Please spend your time relaxing with the seascape at dusk.

7:45 PM Dinner at the hotel

For dinner, visit “ray dining”, we offer a consecutive night menu for the second night, and a private room for up to 8 people.

Clear air and the sound of crashing waves. Countless stars twinkle in the night sky.
Please warm your body slowly at the end of the day. If you’re lucky, you might see a shooting star.

DAY 3

06:30 AM: Morning Island Stroll Cruise

Indulge in the luxury of watching the sunrise over the horizon from the deck of a boat.
Enjoy a refreshing morning cruise around the three islands of Akashima, Kijima, and Kuroshima, which can be seen from the hotel. Why not take a leisurely stroll on the sea, enveloped in the clear air and soft morning sun?

09:00 Breakfast

After returning from a brisk morning walk, we went to the breakfast room at “ray dining”. There are seats on the ocean side and the mountain side, so you can enjoy a different view of Gotō from yesterday.

*You can eat at your favorite time from 07:30 to 09:00.

11:00 Check out and look for souvenirs

After checking out, how about visiting the ray shop to find souvenirs unique to the Goto retreat for yourself or your loved ones? We have a collection of Goto and Nagasaki products, such as Goto’s famous camellia tea, Goto udon noodles, local sake, craft goods and pottery made by local artisans, and skincare products made from natural island ingredients. We also have a wide selection of original hotel products.

11:30 AM: Te to ba Art Museum

(20-minute drive) This museum exhibits works created by artists who stayed in Goto, feeling the island’s scenery and culture. Enjoy a moment of discovering new charms of Goto.

*When strolling around Tomie, free parking is available next to Tomie Town Central Park.

12:30 PM: Lunch in Tomie

– Goto Islands Noodle Factory: A soba restaurant using Goto-grown buckwheat flour. Enjoy the texture, smoothness, and aroma unique to homemade noodles. They also offer many seasonal dishes.
– te to ba: A cafe with a warm atmosphere, renovated from an old folk house. You can enjoy lunch and drinks using local seasonal ingredients.
– Ramen Bin: A ramen restaurant very popular for its shrimp salt ramen, which is topped with plenty of plump shrimp and tender bok choy.

2:00 PM: Photo Shoot on Tomie’s Old Road

(5-minute drive) The sea side is latticed, offering a beautiful view as if framed in a white frame. We recommend standing in the lattice to take pictures.

2:30 PM: Kosako Beach

The beach, with its clear, beautiful sea and white sand, is unique to remote islands. Be sure to visit Goto Camellia Products Center at the end of your trip. We recommend the soft serve ice cream with Goto salt.

4:00 PM: Return Rental Car

(15-minute drive) Return the rental car at Toyota Rent a Car and head to Fukue Port or Fukue Airport (Goto Tsubaki Airport). Shuttle service to the airport and port is also available.
