DAY 1

Arrive at Fukue Island around noon
(10 minutes by car →) Once you arrive on the island, first complete the procedures at the car rental office.

12:00 Lunch in town
(15 minutes by car →)
・Sushi Zen: Enjoy fresh local fish sushi sourced directly from fishermen.・Oddon-tei: Try the specialty Goto udon. We recommend “jigoku-daki,” where you take the noodles directly from a bubbling hot pot.・JA Goto Farm Restaurant: A restaurant next to the “Sanchoku Ichiba Goto ga Umai” farmers’ market. Enjoy locally produced dishes featuring Goto beef, pork, and fresh vegetables.

13:30 Uotsugasaki Park
(15 minutes by car →) A park where seasonal flowers bloom and you can enjoy the beauty of nature. In spring, around 4 million rapeseed blossoms are in full bloom.

14:00 Mizunoura Church
(3 minutes by car →) A church perched on a small hill, characterized by white and pale blue tones. Highlights include the bat-vaulted ceiling—typical of Gothic architecture—and its vibrant stained glass windows.

15:00 Cherry-blossom viewing at Minodake Enchi
(30 minutes by car →) The breathtaking sight of around 400 cherry trees blooming as if framing the crater is truly stunning. Locals cherish it as a renowned spot for cherry-blossom viewing. Climb up to the observation deck for a beautiful panoramic view of both mountains and sea. In the evening, the area is illuminated, allowing you to enjoy an enchanting display of blossoms at night.

16:30 Arrive at hotel and check in
(5 minutes by car →) Check in to GOTO RETREAT ray. As you step into the hotel, you will be greeted by the ocean view scenery unique to ray.

17:30 Dinner at the hotel
Enjoy Japanese kaiseki cuisine at the in-house “ray dining” restaurant, where you can savor the flavors of Gotō. In Goto, where fish are abundant and fresh both in summer and winter, you can enjoy a variety of seasonal seafood throughout the four seasons. Another feature of the remote islands is that all agricultural products are “locally produced” because they are not connected to land.

Stargazing Tour
Enjoy Goto’s nights with a guided tour while gazing at the starry sky. Because it is a remote island with few lights, you can see a spectacular starry sky.

~11:00 PM Enjoy a quiet evening at the ray bar
After dinner, take a break and spend the evening at the craft cocktail bar where you can feel the story of Gotō. A non-alcoholic menu is also available. The authentic setting, the essence of Yukio Hashimoto, is also a highlight. There is also a small meditation room behind the bar.
DAY 2

08:00 Breakfast
Wake up refreshed and enjoy breakfast at “ray dining.” Savor freshly cooked white rice and miso soup made with local barley miso. Our “Japanese-style set meal” features fish and vegetables that are gentle on the body. Enjoy a different view from dinner time.

9:30 Departure from hotel
After breakfast, we departed in the rental car we rented yesterday.
*We also have a sightseeing MAP of Fukue Island available.

10:30 Osezaki Lighthouse
(60 minutes by car →) From the observation deck, take in sweeping scenery shaped by sheer cliffs carved by fierce winds and waves. Walking to the lighthouse takes about one hour round trip.

12:00 The Akou Tree in Tamanoura
(10 minutes by car →) A giant akou (banyan) tree within the grounds of Oyamaizumi Shrine. The shrine approach passes between thick, life-filled trunks and an intertwined canopy. Surrounded by fresh spring greenery, a deeply mystical landscape unfolds.

13:00 Lunch in Kishuku Town
(30 minutes by car →)
・Japanese Cuisine Chiharu: Rice bowls made with fresh local fish and meat are recommended.・Yamauchi Cafe (Yamaguchi Shoten): A hot-sandwich and shake shop. Shakes made with Goto-grown strawberries and melon are especially popular.

15:00 Arakawa Onsen Footbath
(10 minutes by car →) On the way to Arakawa, cherry trees beautifully line the roadside along Prefectural Route 27.A place to pause and relax, soothing both mind and body. It has been renovated into a footbath that also serves as a bus stop and waiting room—ideal for resting your feet during a drive.*When strolling around Arakawa, you may use the free parking lot located right next to the footbath.

16:00 Tomdomari Beach
(10 minutes by car →) The shallows are crystal clear, and as you head offshore, a gradient-like expanse of deep blue sea spreads out before you.

17:00 Takahama Beach
(3 minutes by car →) Takahama Beach is renowned for its pure white sand and transparent turquoise waters—so beautiful it is sometimes called “the most beautiful sea in Japan.”

18:30 Watch the sunset from the Gyoryo Kannon Observatory
(1 minute by car →) A spectacular viewpoint overlooking both Takahama and Tomdomari beaches. The sunset sinking into the horizon is truly breathtaking. In spring, sunset in Goto is around 18:30–19:00.As it takes about 40 minutes to return to the hotel, please allow ample time and take care on your way back.

7:45 PM Dinner at the hotel
For dinner, visit “ray dining”, we offer a consecutive night menu for the second night, and a private room for up to 8 people.

Please warm your body slowly at the end of the day. If you’re lucky, you might see a shooting star.
DAY 3

06:30 AM: Morning Island Stroll Cruise
Enjoy a luxurious moment watching the sunrise rise from the horizon from aboard a boat.
A refreshing morning cruise that visits three islands—Akashima, Kishima, and Kuroshima—visible from the hotel. Why not take a leisurely stroll across the sea, surrounded by crisp air and gentle morning sunlight?

09:00 Breakfast
After returning from a brisk morning walk, we went to the breakfast room at “ray dining”. There are seats on the ocean side and the mountain side, so you can enjoy a different view of Gotō from yesterday.
*You can eat at your favorite time from 07:30 to 09:00.

11:00 Check out and look for souvenirs
After checking out, how about visiting the ray shop to find souvenirs unique to the Goto retreat for yourself or your loved ones? We have a collection of Goto and Nagasaki products, such as Goto’s famous camellia tea, Goto udon noodles, local sake, craft goods and pottery made by local artisans, and skincare products made from natural island ingredients. We also have a wide selection of original hotel products.

11:10 Onidake
(10 minutes by car →) Onidake, the round-shaped symbol of Fukue Island. Climb the steps for about five minutes from the parking lot to reach an observation deck with panoramic views of downtown Fukue and the seas of Goto. From there, it is about a 20-minute climb to the summit.

12:00 Lunch at Goto Country Club
(5 minutes by car →) Enjoy a Goto-style lunch while taking in the lush green views of the golf course.

13:30 Kotogoishi Koinobori (Carp Streamers)
(35 minutes by car →) From late April to mid-May, around 150 vivid carp streamers dance in the sky.A beloved spring tradition carefully passed down in the small village of “Kotogoishi,” nestled in the mountains.

2:30 PM: Kosako Beach
(25 minutes by car →) The crystal-clear sea and expansive white-sand beach are unique to these remote islands. Cross the small bridge behind the Goto Tsubaki Products Center, and you will find a profusion of cherry blossoms in bloom. We recommend the soft-serve ice cream served with a sprinkle of Goto salt.

4:00 PM: Return Rental Car
(15-minute drive) Return the rental car at Toyota Rent a Car and head to Fukue Port or Fukue Airport (Goto Tsubaki Airport). Shuttle service to the airport and port is also available.
