3-day/2-night model plan to fully enjoy the ray
DAY 1
Arrive at Fukue Island around noon
If you arrive in Gotō earlier than your hotel check-in time, take a cab into town. You will be comforted by the peaceful scenery of the island.
13:00 Lunch at a restaurant on the island
(10 minutes by car→) When you arrive on the island at lunchtime, you should first get hungry. How about a Mickey lunch at Mickey House, a 41-year-old restaurant with a nostalgic feel. Their hamburgers made with beef and pork from Gotō are very popular.
15:00 Arrive at hotel and check in
(15 minutes by car→) Gojima Retreat ray, check in. The ocean view is unique to “ray” as you step into the hotel.
15:30 Blissful spa treatment at ray spa
After taking a rest in your room, go to the ray spa you have reserved. A body and facial treatment incorporating the essence of Goto Camellia and a Vichy Rain Shower, which uses the water pressure of the shower to promote circulation in the body, will soothe away your daily fatigue and refresh your mind and body.

Tour of the museum’s art
After refreshing your body and mind at the spa, why not take a tour of the museum’s art on your way back to your guest room? You will find crafts by local artists throughout the hotel, including the interior design by Yukio Hashimoto, glass from Rurian, artwork on Japanese paper with motifs of nature in Gotō, and artwork using lava rocks excavated on the property.
Six types of art bookmarks have been installed in the museum. Please come and find them.
17:30 or 19:45 Dinner at hotel
Enjoy Japanese kaiseki cuisine at the in-house “ray dining” restaurant, where you can savor the flavors of Gotō. In Goto, where fish are abundant and fresh both in summer and winter, you can enjoy a variety of seasonal seafood throughout the four seasons. Another feature of the remote islands is that all agricultural products are “locally produced” because they are not connected to land.

~23:00 Enjoy a quiet night at ray bar
After dinner, take a break and spend the evening at the craft cocktail bar where you can feel the story of Gotō. A non-alcoholic menu is also available. The authentic setting, the essence of Yukio Hashimoto, is also a highlight. There is also a small meditation room behind the bar.
DAY 2
08:00 Breakfast
Wake up feeling good in the morning and enjoy a superb breakfast at “ray dining”. Freshly cooked white rice and miso soup made with local barley miso. The “Japanese-style meal” is a healthful meal consisting mainly of fish and vegetables. You can see a different view from the dinner time.
It can be served at your favorite time between 07:30 and 09:00.
10:00 Morning bath with ocean view
After breakfast, enjoy the ocean breeze and the sound of the waves as you soak in the open-air guest room bath with an ocean view overlooking the blue sea and sky. The bath amenities and skin care products are made with camellia from Goto, and are also available for purchase at the ray shop.
11:30 Departure from hotel
When you are ready, why not take a car share to explore Gotō?
Two cars are available in the hotel’s parking lot, but we recommend that you make reservations in advance as there are a limited number of cars available.
13:30 Dozaki Tenshudo
(20 min. by car→) Once your stomach is full, head to Dosaki Tenshudo, a spot unique to Gotō. The brick church was built in the Meiji era (1868-1912), and the apple stone that appears at low tide is also a highlight.
14:30 Onidake
(Onidake, the symbol of Fukue Island, is a must-see, both for climbing and viewing. Goto Retreat is located on a hill overlooking the lava coast, which is said to have been formed by the eruption of Mt.
15:30 Return to hotel
(When you return to the hotel (10 minutes by car), why don’t you visit the “ray shop” next to the lobby and experience the soul of Gotō? We have a variety of products from Goto and Nagasaki, including Goto’s famous camellia tea, Goto udon noodles, island shochu, processed island water products, craft goods and tableware made by local artisans, and skin care products made from natural island ingredients. The hotel also offers a wide variety of original products.

17:30 Dinner at the hotel

20:30 Starry sky tour
Enjoy the night of Gotō with a guide’s commentary while gazing at a star-filled sky. The starry night sky is breathtaking, which can be seen only on remote islands where there are few lights at night.

22:00 Evening drinks with room service
Back at the hotel, when I got hungry, I ordered room service. A cold-cut entrée of prosciutto ham, salami, and Goto Island specialty peanuts was served with the hotel’s original sweet potato shochu, Goto Imo Tsubaki Yeast, on the rocks.
DAY 3
09:00 Breakfast
After waking up to a panoramic ocean view that seems to envelop you in the horizon, head to the “ray dining” breakfast room. You can have breakfast while enjoying a different view of Gotō from yesterday’s breakfast.
Breakfast is served from 07:30 to 09:00, at a time of your choice.
11:00 Check out
After breakfast, enjoy a peaceful time in your room or in the lobby. The light that sometimes shines through the clouds washes your mind like an angel.
12:00 Resin art experience at the hotel
After checking out, why not join a handcrafting experience of resin art inspired by the sea of Gotō directly at the hotel? Take your memories of your trip home with you as a work of art.

14:00 Abumise Lava Beach Walk
On the last morning, why not wake up a little earlier and take a walk around the hotel?You can enjoy the nearby islands and the beautiful sea while walking along the coast created by nature.

14:30 Rest at ile next to the hotel
Take a walk and take a break at the cafe “ile” next to the hotel. French pastries, freshly baked bread, and authentic coffee brewed by a barista will put a smile on your face.

15:00 Write a letter to the future
At the end of a special trip, acknowledge a letter to a loved one or your future self. Spell out your words with a delicate glass pen and finish with a sealing stamp for a special experience. The magical power of a letter is that words that are normally difficult to say can be conveyed when written.

15:30 Souvenirs at the end of the trip
After returning from your walk along the Abumise Lava Beach, take a moment to gaze out to sea from the lobby or terrace until it is time for departure, and you may even spot the Angel’s Ladder, from which the ray shop takes its name. If you have time to spare, why not stop by the ray shop to pick up a unique souvenir of your Goto Retreat for yourself or a loved one?
